Marc Gwamaka

Engagement and Outreach Coordinator

In 2013, Marc founded the Aegis Youth Champion Leadership Program, a transformative initiative that has touched the lives of more than 2,300 individuals, including those deeply entrenched in active conflicts, empowering them to become influential advocates for humanity within their communities. He has extended this noble mission to strife-ridden regions, such as South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and Nigeria, with a specific focus on Adamawa in North Eastern Nigeria. Marc’s resounding voice for humanity echoes through diverse locations, encompassing South Africa, Zambia, the USA (including the transformative setting of Cook County Jail in Chicago), Gambia, Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan, and his beloved homeland, Rwanda.

During his formative years, Marc devoted himself to dismantling the relentless cycles of hatred. He initiated the Peace and Love Proclaimer, a youth movement dedicated to paving pathways of humanity, and introduced the Walk to Remember, an educational program that disseminates its message to young minds globally. Its profound curriculum educates young individuals on the subject of genocide, its dire consequences, and the imperative methods for preventing its recurrence.

As a distinguished Salzburg Global Fellow, Marc holds the mantle for the international training and education program at Aegis Trust. In this capacity, he disseminates invaluable knowledge on peace and values education to a diverse audience, encompassing both local and international communities. His remarkable journey has also graced the halls of esteemed institutions, including Harvard Law School, Tufts University, William and Mary, and the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
