On 7 April 2016, President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, tweeted a touching message about this year’s Commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi, known as Kwibuka22. Kwibuka is the Kinyarwanda word for remembrance. Below is the President’s message.
What happened 22 years ago is never easy to comprehend but today Rwandans and other people of goodwill remember and honour lives lost

Rwandans are rebuilding their lives & their dignity, we are all very committed to making sure that genocide never happens again

Those who contributed directly to genocide in #Rwanda and refuse to take responsibility remain on the wrong side of history & justice.

There’s a lot to show from journey we have travelled in 22 years. It’s a result of what Rwandans & friends have invested in this country
