President Faustin-Archange Touadéra of Central African Republic pays respects to the victims of Genocide against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial

Today, July 3, 2019, Kigali Genocide Memorial welcomed the President of the Central African Republic, H.E. Faustin-Archange Touadéra who came to pay respects to the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi.

On his visit, President Touadéra was accompanied by Rwanda’s Minister of Sports and Culture, Hon. Nyirasafari Espérance together with Dr Jean Damascene Bizimana, the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide (CNLG).

President Touadéra laid a wreath on the burial place where more than 250,000 victims of the Genocide are laid to rest. He also observed a minute of silence in honour of more than one million victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

At the end of his visit, President Faustin-Archange Touadéra wrote his heartfelt message in the memorial guestbook.

Never Again! I pay tribute to the memory of all those innocent victims.” He wrote.

Today was President Touadéra’s second visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. His first visit was in July 2016. H.E Faustin-Archange Touadéra is among other foreign Heads of State to attend the 25th Liberation Anniversary scheduled Thursday, July 4, at the Amahoro National Stadium, in Kigali.
