Posted in Uncategorized

Youth from Nyirangarama accompanied by the Executive Secretary of Nyirangarama Cell have visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial to commemorate the victims of Genocide against the Tutsi and learn about the history of Rwanda.

Upon their arrival, the group toured the memorial’s exhibitions to learn about the cause and consequences of Genocide, as well as the journey that Rwanda has been taking to rebuild and prevent Genocide from happening again.

These young people also laid wreaths on the burial place to pay their respects to more than a million victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi and observed a minute of silence to honour them.

Theogene Nkundimana, the Representative of Youth in Nyirangarama Cell said that the objective of their visit was to draw lessons from the past and learn about the role of youth in the execution of the Genocide against the Tutsi.

“Young people are the future of this nation and they play an important role in nation building. Twenty three years back, this force has been used to destroy this nation. It is key for the youth of today to know where their fellow young people have failed in the past and now take measures to help them do the opposite,” said Theogene.

Eric Nizeyimana, the Vice President of Board of Council in Nyirangarama Cell said that visiting this memorial helps them learn more on how to fight divisionism.

“I would like to urge young people to understand how important their efforts in fighting any divisionism and promoting peace can contribute tremendously to the sustainable development of this country,” said Eric.
