Members of One Vision Group have visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial to remember their loved ones and learn from the history of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Beginning their visit, the group received the briefing from a guide at the Kigali Genocide Memorial on activities that will be held throughout the commemoration event. Afterward, they toured the memorial to learn about the history of Rwanda before, during and after the Genocide, its consequences and how Rwandans have been working together to reconstruct the nation.

Pascal Ntaganda, a representative of One Vision Group, said that commemorating the Genocide against the Tutsi is like a mirror that reminds us of our past and pushes us to think about our future.

Ntaganda also said that survivors should focus on their future because they were spared for a purpose.

“As we say in English: What doesn’t Kill you makes you stronger. As survivors we are not what they wanted us to be, now that we are here when they wanted to exterminate us all. We have to live and live a life we are happy with for us and for future generations,”
