More than 200 members of the Rwandan Drivers’ Association known as A.T.P.R. have visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial for remembrance and learning about the history of the Genocide against the Tutsi, which will help them fight genocide ideology.

The activity of remembering started with a Walk to Remember from Muhima to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. During the walk, the members shared what they know about Rwandan history and what they can do to prevent genocide from happening again. Reaching the memorial, they paid respects to the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi by taking a moment of silence and laying wreaths at the burial place where more than 250,000 victims are laid to rest.

Olivier Nizeyiman, President of A.T.P.R., said the association can do many things to fight genocide ideology.

“In Rwanda, we are one of the associations that meets with many people each day. So, it is our responsibility to encourage and teach people to fight against genocide ideology. This might be the easy way for us to contribute to ensuring genocide never happens again.”

The association expressed their gratitude and support through a generous donation, which will help the memorial in different remembrance and learning activities. The memorial is honoured to partner with A.T.P.R as we continue to remember and contribute to rebuilding the country.
