Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire paid respects to victims of genocide against the Tutsi at Kigali Genocide Memorial

Prime Minister of Somalia, HE Hassan Ali Khaire has visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial to pay his respects to the more than one million victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi.

To begin his visit at the memorial, the Prime Minister of Somalia laid a wreath on the burial place where more than 250.000 victims of the genocide against the Tutsi are laid to rest.

Guided through the memorial’s exhibits by Honoré Gatera, Director of the Kigali Genocide Memorial, HE Khaire learnt more on the history of Genocide. Got explanation on the history of division in Rwanda, the causes, reality and consequences of the Genocide against the Tutsi and Rwanda’s efforts to foster a shared sense of national identity.

To conclude his visit, he shared his heartfelt message in the memorial’s guestbook.

“I am honored to be able to pay my respect and tribute to the victims and the families of the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994. I am delighted to learn that Rwanda has managed to overcome those problems in a short period due to the leadership of President Kagame”

He wrote.
