On 19th November 2025, Mr. Ndiamé Diop, Regional Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa at the World Bank, visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial where he paid tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
During his visit, Mr. Diop toured the memorial exhibits, gaining deeper insight into the historical causes, lived realities, and devastating consequences of the Genocide. His visit also highlighted Rwanda’s remarkable journey of recovery, unity, and an unwavering commitment to rebuilding a peaceful nation.
At the end of his visit, he left the following message in the Memorial’s guestbook:
“The Kigali Genocide Memorial is a powerful reminder of the loss suffered by Rwanda and the extraordinary unity and renewal that followed. Rwanda’s journey from tragedy to hope, unity and transformation is an inspiration for the world. May all the victims rest in peace and their memories cement lasting peace and humanity.”
